Our confirmed MUFC XI for the opening game of the season vs Brighton is now in…
Manchester United Football Club begin a new era today. The Old Trafford side, led by Erik ten Hag, take on Brighton & Hove Albion who’ll be coming to Manchester to upset the party.
The Dutch boss has had a good pre-season as his players begin to learn this new system, though now it’s time to go out there and show just how badly they want the glory days to return to the Theatre of Dreams.
There was always going to be plenty of speculation surrounding Ten Hag’s opening day line-up. It’s absolutely an intriguing team selection by the former Ajax boss. Perhaps the big news is both Cristiano Ronaldo and Tyrell Malacia will start this one on the bench.
Anyway, the full team news is now in, so let’s get right into it.
Check out our confirmed MUFC XI vs Brighton in full here:
David de Gea was always going to start this one in between the sticks, with the Spaniard having a pretty straightforward job this season due to the absence of Dean Henderson.
Diogo Dalot starts at right-back here, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka beginning this one as a substitute. Over on the left, Luke Shaw gets the nod ahead of the aforementioned Malacia. Harry Maguire starts and captains the team here, with Lisandro Martinez named as his partner. Victor Lindelof doesn’t even make the squad.
There’s a three in midfield. Scott McTominay will likely sit at the deepest midfielder, with Fred and Christian Eriksen playing slightly further afield. They’ll be tasked with creating chances, working hard on both sides of the ball and maintaining possession.
It looks like Bruno Fernandes will lead the line in the ‘false nine’ role, with Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho on the left and right respectively.
The bench is jam-packed with quality, with Ronaldo the standout name. Alejandro Garnacho, Raphael Varane, James Garner and Donny van de Beek all named as subs.
COME ON LADS!!

First few minutes were ok for Man.Utd but after that it was very poor playing.
Too much of standing and passing and passing. That is how alot of errors occur.
Bring in Garnacho. He is capable of moving faster on the ball and make something happen.
