MUFC play their penultimate home game of the 2021/22 season today, with the Red Devils taking on Chelsea…
Manchester United’s recent form has been nothing but dreadful. The players seem to have completely thrown in the towel, which is absolutely the wrong mindset to have while playing for the biggest club in the country.
I’ll be honest. At this point I’m just counting down the games, ticking them off the fixture list with relief, eagerly awaiting the end of the campaign. This just isn’t a likeable bunch of players and the sooner the clearing out process begins, the better it’ll be for all involved.
Anyway, we have to grin and bear it for a little while longer. No doubt tonight’s game against Chelsea could be yet another reality check.
The team news for this clash is now in, with Ralf Rangnick’s squad looking pretty thin in some areas. The good part about that is that there are four young lads on the bench – all of whom are no doubt patiently waiting for their opportunity.

David de Gea continues to start in between the sticks. Though to me, this felt like an opportunity to see whether Dean Henderson is good enough.
At right-back, Diogo Dalot starts ahead of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, while Alex Telles continues to play in place of the injured Luke Shaw. Harry Maguire is missing, so Raphael Varane partners Victor Lindelof at the heart of the defence.
Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay both play, giving us a real defensive-look in midfield. The only attack-minded player in that area of the field is Bruno Fernandes. We’ll be looking to him to provide our spark.
Cristiano Ronaldo always leads the line when fit, with the Portuguese superstar starting here. To his right and left respectively is Marcus Rashford and Anthony Elanga. Both are more than capable of hurting Chelsea’s defence with the ball at feet.
