Confirmed MUFC XI vs Crystal Palace (Pre-Season tour, 2022)

The confirmed MUFC XI for their game vs Crystal Palace is now in, with Erik ten Hag once again going for a strong line-up.

In pre-seasons gone by, we’ve tended to see a real mix of starting line-ups as the manager looks to give everyone opportunities.

Erik ten Hag is doing things in a different way. The Dutchman has seemingly settled on a core group of players he’d like to start with in every single game, as he begins to formulate his plan ahead of the new campaign.

Today’s game against Crystal Palace isn’t any different, with the former Ajax boss once again turning to experience over youth. Though no doubt we’ll see some of the younger lads get their minutes in the second half again.

Anyway, without further ado, United’s third tour game is upon us so let’s delve right into the confirmed team news.

Check out the confirmed MUFC XI vs Crystal Palace in full here:

David de Gea has overcome injury to take his place in the XI for this one, with the Spaniard looking to show he can distribute the ball better than we’ve seen in years gone by.

Diogo Dalot seems to have edged ahead in the race for the right-back berth, while the left-back spot is still up for grabs. It’s Tyrell Malacia who starts out there today. Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof make up what feels like a customary back two, though that may change when Lisandro Martinez comes to town.

The midfield combination of Scott McTominay and Fred has always divided opinion over the years, though Ten Hag seems to like those two when they play together. It’ll be interesting to see how they get on here. Bruno Fernandes starts, presumably in that number ten role.

Once again, United’s interchangeable front three looks superb on paper. A rejuvenated Anthony Martial leads the line, with Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford on either side of him.

No doubt we’ll also see the bench used to its fullest over the duration of the 90 minutes. It’d be nice if we can make it three wins from three here, too!
