The confirmed MUFC XI for the first derby of the season vs Man City is now in…
Manchester United take part in their first Manchester derby under Erik ten Hag today, with the Old Trafford club making the short trip to the Etihad Stadium for this one.
It goes without saying, matches do not come much tougher than this. United will have to be on their absolute A-game to have any chance whatsoever at coming away with any sort of positive result.
However, Ten Hag’s side have been in good form of late. Let’s hope that can translate to the match this afternoon, though that’s easier said than done.
City themselves are without Rodri, who has been a vital factor for the Blues in midfield. Enough about them, though, let’s get right into the all-important United team news.
There’s places on the bench for the returning Anthony Martial, while Cristiano Ronaldo is also amongst the substitutes rather than in the line-up.

David de Gea starts in between the sticks as per usual, with the Spaniard no doubt in for a busy afternoon. Let’s hope he’s feeling confident and positive about his game here.
The back four now feels like a pretty stable one. Diogo Dalot has been in sensational form of late. He starts at right-back. Tyrell Malacia is doing a stellar job over on the left-hand side, keeping Luke Shaw rooted to the bench. Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane are forming quite a partnership back there. They’ll have their hands full with a certain Norwegian today…
Scott McTominay is keeping Casemiro out of the side, with Christian Eriksen another who is in superb form as things stand. Bruno Fernandes makes up the midfield, with the Portgual international playing in that #10 role.
Marcus Rashford has been passed fit. He leads the line. Antony will play off the right-hand side, with Jadon Sancho switching over to the left.
Let’s go lads!

Man.Utd has noone to run and take the ball forward confidently. They pass and pass and pose possession of the ball. They have come back their old style and old habits and not good enough to beat good team like Man.City.
They need to be told by the coach at the line to hurry and move forward instead of all passing backward. They are all backward to go forward.
I cannot understand when there where times they beat this team.
They cannot hold possession of the ball for long.
Most of the players are not fit enough by the look of it. They just keep standing and passing.
It looks like you all had an arrangement with City to let them win. This may sound rude or funny if it seems.
