The confirmed MUFC XI for their game vs Melbourne Victory is now in, with Erik ten Hag naming another strong side.
Just like that, the second game of Manchester United’s pre-season tour is upon us. The Old Trafford club face easier opposition this time (on paper at least), as they take on Melbourne Victory.
This game signals the start of the Australian leg of the Reds’ pre-season tour, as Erik ten Hag continues to whip his players into shape before the new season kicks off proper next month.
As is always the case, these games are mostly about building the fitness levels, with the Dutch manager of United also looking to slowly incorporate his style on this club.
The gaffer has once again gone strong. I have to be honest, I genuinely thought we’d see a much weaker line-up this time around, with Ten Hag wanting to get a look at his whole squad. Instead, it looks as though he’s already forming his favoured side.

In goal, Tom Heaton replaces David de Gea, who is still seemingly feeling the effects of pulling up limp vs Liverpool.
Diogo Dalot starts at right-back for the second successive game, while Luke Shaw continues to get the nod over on the left, ahead of Tyrell Malacia. Harry Maguire has been passed fit and he starts here, alongside Victor Lindelof.
Fred is indeed reunited with his old pal Scott McTominay as the two holding midfielders, with Bruno Fernandes looking like starting in that number 10 role once again.
Anthony Martial continues to lead the line in Cristiano Ronaldo’s absence, with Jadon Sancho starting from the off again here. Anthony Elanga makes up the XI, with the Swede looking to impress his new boss.
