The confirmed MUFC XI for the Carabao Cup first-leg vs Nottingham Forest is now in…
Arguably, Manchester United’s biggest game of the season is here. The Red Devils find themselves in a semi-final for what feels like the first time in years.
Nottingham Forest are the opponent. They’ll believe in their own ability after some excellent form – particularly at home. It’s why I wasn’t expecting to see much rotation from the boss – though he has made a few changes.
This is an opportunity for Erik ten Hag to further endear himself to the Old Trafford Faithful. This is a moment that these players simply have to seize. Surely, this side is good enough to beat Forest over two legs?
Anyway, the team news is now in, so let’s get right into it.
Check out the confirmed MUFC XI for the Carabao Cup first leg vs Nottingham Forest in full here:
David de Gea does keep his place in between the sticks, during a match in which he’ll likely be pretty heavily tested.
Over at the right-back position, Aaron Wan-Bissaka does start despite his poor display at the weekend. Tyrell Malacia comes into the XI, with Luke Shaw not even making the bench. Lisandro Martinez plays, though this time, alongside Victor Lindelof.
Casemiro is well-rested after missing the Arsenal game through suspension. He was always going to start here. Christian Eriksen starts at the heart of midfield, with Brun Fernandes playing in that #10 slot.
Wout Weghorst is still waiting for his first United goal. This would be a massive time to achieve that feat. To his right and left respectively is Antony and Marcus Rashford.
There’s quality on the bench should the Reds need it, though let’s hope United can come through this game with a positive result to take back home.
