The confirmed MUFC XI for the home Premier League game vs Nottingham Forest is now in…
It has been a fair while since Old Trafford has hosted Premier League football, though Manchester United will be looking to kick off the resumption of domestic league football with a huge victory at home to Nottingham Forest here.
Make no mistake about it, this feels like a game that has potential to be tougher than you’d think on paper – though you’d always back our lads to do well, whatever side starts.
Erik ten Hag has been putting some players through their paces during the World Cup. You’d have imagined that the starting line-up would be filled with those individuals here.
Anyway, the team news is now in, so let’s get right into it…
Check out our confirmed MUFC XI for the game vs Nottingham Forest in full here:
David de Gea starts in between the sticks here, with the Spaniard looking to continue to improve under these new coaches.
The back four is certainly interesting. It looks like Aaron Wan-Bissaka starts at right-back, with Tyrell Malacia probably getting the call to play in the left-back position. Raphael Varane has been deemed fit enough to start here, which is a huge boost. Luke Shaw will partner him at the heart of the back four. Interestingly, Harry Maguire has been left on the bench. Make of that what you will.
Casemiro has been superb of late, so let’s keep that trend going here. The Brazilian plays in that holding midfield role, presumably alongside Christian Eriksen. Bruno Fernandes plays in the #10 position here.
Anthony Martial hasn’t had a prolonged run of games for the course of the 2022/23 campaign due to injury. Let’s hope this is the start of something good for him. To his right and left respectively is Antony and Marcus Rashford – a front three with genuine potential.
