Confirmed MUFC XI vs Young Boys (Champions League home, 2021/22)

Our last Champions League group stage game is here, with our confirmed MUFC XI vs Young Boys now in…

Manchester United’s place in the knockout round is already secure. The Old Trafford club have the luxury of having already won the group, meaning Ralf Rangnick can experiment if he so chooses.

With new manager’s it’s always hard to decipher what players they’re tending to favour, so for us, predicting this team was pretty tough.

However, the confirmed team news is now in and I think we did a pretty good job in our starting XI predictor for this one.

Changes were always going to be made and I’m buzzing to see some youngsters involved. This is the perfect opportunity to see what these guys can do – so let’s hope they grab their chances with both hands.

Check out the confirmed MUFC XI vs Young Boys in full here:

Dean Henderson comes into the side in between the sticks for just his second start of the season.

Formation-wise, I’m honestly not sure how we’re lining up here. On paper it looks like a three at the back, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw starting either side of Eric Bailly. This could change in game, though.

Moving onto the midfield, I’m going to assume that Nemanja Matic is the deepest midfielder, with Donny van de Beek possibly playing alongside him.

Then we go further afield, with Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata both starting as the creative forces. It’s nice to see a great blend of energy and creative genius between these two.

Anthony Elanga and Amad both come into the side for their first European starts. Credit where it’s due to Rangnick for putting his complete trust in these two footballing notices.

Then, Mason Greenwood leads the line. The Englishman is now back fit and healthy, with this feeling like the ideal game to get him back into the swing of things as he looks to build match fitness.

Come on you Reds!
