Confirmed: Romelu Lukaku signs for Manchester United Football Club

Manchester United have officially announced the capture of Romelu Lukaku from Everton. The club took to social media to confirm they’ve signed the 24-year-old from The Toffees, with the Belgian putting pen to paper on a five-year contract with the option for a further year.

Finally, the club have added their second player ahead of the new season, with Lukaku following Victor Lindelof into the club. Now, the striker will meet up with his new teammates in Los Angeles, and begin training with them.

Ever since the news broke that Zlatan Ibrahimovic wouldn’t be handed a new contract, we’ve been crying out for a new striker and Jose Mourinho has got his man.

Lukaku scored an impressive 25 Premier League last goals last term, which eclipses Ibrahimovic’s 18, who was our highest scorer.

In terms of a tailor-made replacement, I don’t think we could have gotten anyone closer in terms of stature and style of play. Both are strong, powerful forwards capable of scoring all types of goals, so hopefully, ‘Big Rom’ will fit in seamlessly.

It all starts for him on July 15th when United begin their pre-season tour against the LA Galaxy. Presumably, his first Premier League game will take place at Old Trafford on August 13th against West Ham United.
