Manchester United could well be on their way to another Wembley final in just over one month’s time, but that all rides on tonight’s fixture against Hull City. Jose Mourinho’s side leads 2-0 from the first leg, but it is clear the manager is desperate to ensure safe progression judging by the line-up he has picked.
The gaffer has gone pretty much as strong as possible, and you have to say fair play to him for that. He’s a winner, and he wants that first bit of silverware in the trophy cabinet nice and early.
All big names like David de Gea, Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are given starts, with Michael Carrick also coming back into the XI. Ander Herrera, who makes his 100th start, will join Pogba in the middle of the park.
There is a start for Chris Smalling which is good to see, it’s also nice to see Marcus Rashford get the nod from the off. Jesse Lingard is another squad player who is desperate for the minutes.
Starting XI: De Gea, Darmian, Jones, Smalling, Rojo, Carrick, Herrera, Lingard, Pogba, Rashford, Ibrahimovic
