Well, Jose Mourinho’s first starting XI of the season is in, and the manager has gone strong. The self-proclaimed Special One seems intent on kicking off our pre-season tour with a victory, with a whole host of familiar names handed their chance to impress the boss.
David de Gea starts in goal, and he’ll have a familiar-looking back for of Antonio Valencia, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Daley Blind in front of him.
Newly-appointed captain Michael Carrick begins alongside Ander Herrera, with Marouane Fellaini making up a strong midfield trio.
The front line has bags of pace. Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford will be joined by the creativity and talent of Juan Mata.
In all likelihood, it’ll be all-change at half-time when Mourinho will be wanting to get a look at some other players. Hopefully, we’ll see both Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku given some minutes, as well as some of the younger lads like Demi Mitchell and Andreas Pereira.
One thing I do know is that it feels great having Red Devils football back on our TV screens. Hopefully, this is the start of something good.
