Finally, Manchester United’s first tour game of the 2019 pre-season is here!
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer leads his men into battle against A-League side Perth Glory, in what should be an excellent start to an exciting month before the real action begins in August.
Anyway, the first confirmed starting XI of the season is in, and I suspect this will be the first of many teams selected by Solskjaer that have a youthful look about them over the next twelve months…
Sergio Romero starts in goal, and he’ll have Diogo Dalot, Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe and Ashley Young (C) in front of him. It’s great to see Tuanzebe thrown straight into the side as Solskjaer looks to see what he can do.
Nemanja Matic will sit at the base of the midfield, allowing Andreas Pereira, fresh off his new contract, to play further forward. Tahith Chong will also be given the nod in a central role.
Anthony Martial leads the line with Jesse Lingard presumably playing on the right. Then there’s a debut for Daniel James, who has looked mightily impressive in training before this one.
Come on you Reds!
