Manchester United take on Southampton this evening, in a game that is pretty pointless for both sides. All attentions for Jose Mourinho and his men should be firmly on the Europa League final against Ajax, which takes place one week from today.
But the Red Devils have to play out the remainder of their campaign, and the penultimate Premier League line-up of the season has been named. Mourinho has, once again, continued to mix things up with his team selection.
Sergio Romero has been brought into the starting line-up in place of David de Gea, who doesn’t even make the squad. Marouane Fellaini is back from his domestic suspension, and he comes into the side in place of Ander Herrera. Axel Tuanzebe partners him, so it’ll be interesting to see how he does.
Juan Mata get’s another start as he continues to build up his fitness ahead of the aforementioned Europa League final, and both Chris Smalling and Phil Jones are also in the same boat.
There is also places on the bench for Joel Pereira, Scott McTominay and Demetri Mitchell. It would be nice to see any of these guys get onto the field at some point.
Starting XI
Romero, Bailly, Jones, Smalling, Darmian; Tuanzebe, Fellaini, Mata, Rooney, Mkhitaryan; Martial.
Subs: Pereira, Mitchell, McTominay, Carrick, Herrera, Lingard, Rashford.
