Cristiano Ronaldo added to Man United banner outside Old Trafford

A certain number 7 has been added to the Man United banner outside of Old Trafford over the last 24 hours…

About a month ago, Manchester United unveiled their new banner at the Theatre of Dreams ahead of the 2021/22 season. It featured regulars like Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and several of the United’s Women’s Team, too.

It was released in line with the official home shirt being debuted and incredibly fitting that a certain Sir Matt Busby sees his statue right at the forefront of it all. After all, he was the father figure of United and one of the men who started it all.

Well yesterday, the banner was given a small update, with Ronaldo added to it after his homecoming, as he gears up to make his debut against Newcastle United this Saturday.

Check out the banner here:

I know I sound like a broken record, but I’m still absolutely stunned that Ronaldo is back at United. We’re talking about arguably the greatest player to kick a football.

Sure, he may be past his peak but at aged 36, this is a player who could still start for any side in world football. Goals, assists, his experience, his aura. Ronaldo has it all and there’s no doubt he improves this squad endlessly.

For Ronnie, it all starts again this weekend at home to Newcastle. This is the start of a two-year journey for our number seven as he looks to help bring the glory days back to the Theatre of Dreams.

It’s not going to be easy. This team is nowhere near as stacked as the one he played in during the glory period under Sir Alex Ferguson. However, he chose to come here, he must believe that this squad is capable of winning major honours – with him at the forefront no doubt.

It is nice to see his face on that mural and no doubt Old Trafford will be rocking this weekend!
