Ralf Rangnick may well have to cope without Cristiano Ronaldo for his first game in charge.
Manchester United fans are rightly excited about the prospect of seeing Ralf Rangnick in the Old Trafford dugout tomorrow.
The arrival of the German feels like a fresh start for a club that desperately needed it. I can’t wait to see how it all plays out.
It’s always nice to get off on the right foot, despite the fact that the 63-year-old has probably only worked with these players for a mere matter of hours…
However, Rangnick may have to do it without Cristiano Ronaldo. According to The Sun, the key United star has emerged as a ‘big doubt’ to play vs Crystal Palace tomorrow due to injury.
Apparently, Ronaldo injured his knee while doing his iconic ‘siu’ celebration after scoring the penalty which eventually turned out to be the winner.
After scoring the goal, Ronaldo did play on and ran the full length of the field late on as United broke forward on the counter. However, he was then substituted and hobbled off the field pretty awkwardly…
Whether or not he’ll be able to take his place amongst the substitutes remains to be seen – but it goes without saying, this would be a big blow.
In terms of replacements, Edinson Cavani probably isn’t fit enough for a full 90 minutes just yet, so you’re looking at Marcus Rashford or Anthony Martial. Both of them have had their own struggles of late.
In an ideal world, Ronaldo is fit and can take his place in the starting XI, but with a hectic winter schedule just on the horizon, I’d be surprised if Ronnie is risked here.
