It’s official. Cristiano Ronaldo has been given the iconic number 7 jersey at Man United.
Manchester United Football Club have welcomed a legend back home. Cristiano Ronaldo will play in the famous Red strip for the next two years. I’m still pinching myself at that prospect.
The Portugal superstar is in line to make his debut in 8 days time against Newcastle United. Now, we know what shirt number he’ll be wearing.
After United asked the Premier League for special dispensation, Ronaldo has been handed the number 7, previously worn by Edinson Cavani, who now takes his Uruguay number of 21.
Shortly after the club confirmed the news, the official Twitter account would release the first image of Ronaldo wearing his new number 7 jersey at United – and it looks superb.

Seeing Ronaldo back in these colours makes it all seem very, very real. Ronaldo, at the ripe old age of 36, is back home at the Theatre of Dreams.
You’ve seen what he’s still capable of. Those two brilliant headers he’d score on Wednesday are a mark of what this man can offer this club. No doubt Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is chomping at the bit to get his old teammate straight into the starting line-up.
After Michael Owen, Angel di Maria and several other players failing this jersey in recent times, it feels like it’s back in good hands again. Cavani did a stellar job, now he’s handed it over to the GOAT.
For Ronaldo, the goals are simple. He’s back to win it all. This squad is in pretty nice shape these days and if we play to our capabilities, we can beat absolutely anyone on any given day.
Welcome home, Ronnie.
