Cristiano Ronaldo is not training with Portugal at the moment, due to an upset stomach.
Manchester United haven’t had an easy time of it since domestic football broke off for the World Cup. Cristiano Ronaldo released news of his bombshell interview on Sunday night. Ever since, that’s been dominating the headlines.
The Old Trafford club are no doubt plotting how best to handle the situation behind the scenes, though they’ll likely be lawyers and other higher-ups involved with those conversations. It may take time.
Ronaldo has to clear his mind and start preparing for what’s likely to be his last World Cup with Portugal. It’ll certainly be interesting to see how he gets on over in Qatar.
Anyway, ahead of the World Cup, the United star is not in training, according to Bruno Andrade. Apparently, Ronaldo has an upset stomach at this point in time. The severity of which isn’t yet known.
Obviously, a tummy bug isn’t typically a serious issue. It’ll likely only keep Ronaldo out for a couple of days at most, but that’s key preparation time that he’s missing out on.
Portugal’s opening World Cup game takes place one week from today. No doubt Ronaldo is expecting to be in that starting line-up.
Is it wrong to hope that Ronaldo has a terrible World Cup? In order to prove Erik ten Hag right for benching the 37-year-old plenty of times this season?
That simply has to be the bottom line. Ronaldo hasn’t been that great for United. Maybe he’s completely switched off mentally and that’s the reason for his struggles, but he does look like he’s lost some pace and on-ball quality.
We’ll have to wait and see, I guess…
