Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a message to the fans after leaving Man United.
Yesterday was a mad day for Manchester United Football Club. The Old Trafford outfit confirmed they’d relieved Cristiano Ronaldo of his duties, with news about the Glazer regime possibly coming to an end also a real possibility. More on that later.
Let’s focus on CR7 for now. The Portugal international, obviously super unhappy here in Manchester, did his best to force an exit. To be fair, United also seemed pretty content with letting Ronaldo leave – particularly after some pretty mediocre performances.
United’s statement was pretty short, but amicable. They seemed to make it clear there was no bad blood between club and player.
Ronaldo, soon after, released a statement of his own that followed in a similar manner. He’d tweet his own message to the fans after leaving United, admitting that he still loves the club – though it felt like the right time to move away from the Theatre of Dreams.
I’m sure Ronaldo does hold United dear within his heart. Though I’m not convinced he ‘loves’ the club, as you wouldn’t come out and publicly bash everything about the Reds to Piers Morgan of all people.
Ronaldo, rightly, was thinking of himself first and foremost. I’m still of the belief that he simply cannot hack it that he’s no longer the best player in the world. His ego struggles to deal with that – hence, he’s lashing out at anyone and everything who he can blame instead.
It’ll be telling when he figures out that no top-tier sides will come in and make an effort to sign Ronaldo. No doubt he’ll play at a decent level, though I don’t believe he’ll have Champions League football on the table come January.
Either way, thanks for everything, Ronnie.
