Cristiano Ronaldo takes to Twitter to respond to rape allegation

Ex-Manchester United man Cristiano Ronaldo has firmly denied the rape allegation that has been all over the media over the last week.

The Juventus forward took to Twitter earlier today, posting two tweets as he looks to clear his name.

I’m not going to go too deep into the accusations, but it must be awful to go through – for everyone involved. It’s a tough situation, no doubt it’s affecting Ronaldo mentally – which makes focusing on football a whole lot harder.

The fact that he has so publicly denied the accusation, by using such strong words, tells you he firmly believes in his innocence.

However, this will no doubt be in the public eye for a little while longer as this situation plays out. What he is being accused of is a horrible act. I just wonder why it has taken almost ten years for the story to come to light.

Apparently, Ms. Mayorga took a settlement to never go public with the story, but obviously, things have changed since then which has brought it into the limelight.
