Cristiano Ronaldo to miss first day of Man United training

Cristiano Ronaldo will not take part in today’s Man United training session.

Today, many more Manchester United stars were expected to start their pre-season. Amongst them, Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, the Portuguese superstar will miss the first day of his training, citing family reasons.

According to The Guardian, the club accepted Ronaldo’s request, preventing from coming back to the AON Training Complex as scheduled this Monday.

The Guardian does not go into detail in regards to what family reasons, though Ronaldo has our best wishes from us here at Old Trafford Faithful.

It’s also unclear as to when Ronaldo is expected back. Though we must address the elephant in the room.

We covered a claim yesterday, with Ronaldo making it clear to the club that he’d like to leave this summer.

After a lack of ambition and a tough 2021/22 season which resulted in no Champions League football, you can hardly blame Ronaldo for wanting out. I have no issue with the Greatest of All Time wanting to finish his career playing in the best competition in domestic football.

What I do take issue with is the timing. Ronaldo has had the opportunity to tell the club about his desire to leave for at least a month. Why wait until now, when potential transfer targets have moved elsewhere?

With the club starting their tour in less than a week, it’s now a race against time to see what Ronaldo wants to do.

As things stand, United seem adamant in their stance that Ronaldo isn’t for sale. Plus, there’s only a handful of clubs that could afford to pick up those humongous wages.

Hopefully, all is okay within the Ronaldo household and he comes back with a positive mindset with a point to prove next season.

Do you think Cristiano Ronaldo will remain at the club beyond this summer? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.

  1. I cannot understand what goes wrong with some of the big players and the coach. I think if the club has a good strict coach, they must be prepared to know their place and like the coach for his methods and systems of the games. Some of them like they say they think they are bigger than the club. The more strict the coach is, the better will be the team. When they do well and get trophies and win, then the team of players will be happy to note that it was due to him.
