Cristiano Ronaldo continues to break record after record, with this one officially recognised.

Manchester United Football Club are welcoming home a prodigal son this season. Cristiano Ronaldo, at the ripe old age of 36, is back at Old Trafford. He’ll likely make his debut this weekend.

Well, in Ronaldo’s first game after he made the move back to Manchester, it’s fair to say Ronnie impressed. In the dying embers of a Portugal World Cup qualifier, Ronaldo would break Irish hearts, scoring twice in injury time to turn the game around and secure all three points.

In the process, Ronaldo would equal, then break the record number of goals scored at the international level, with his 111th(!) goal for his beloved Portugal.

Last night, Ronaldo would show off his Guinness World Record on social media, sending a message of thanks and admitting that he’s going to push to set the bar ‘even higher’.

We’re talking about the best player in the world. I still can’t believe he plays for Manchester United. The fact that he decided to return here to the Theatre of Dreams and once again try to go toe-to-toe with the best players in the world is a testament to his desire and drive.

This is someone who could tip us over the edge in our hunt for our first trophy in a half-decade. Even though he’s past his peak age-wise, his physical condition is probably still amongst the fittest of pro athletes all over the world.

Sure, he may not be able to start week-in-week-out, though Ronaldo can still offer this team goals, leadership and a genuine threat. I can’t wait to see him back in action and as he says, he’s still hungrier than ever to make an impact at the highest level.

Can Ronaldo fire us to a title this season? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
