FC Barcelona star Ivan Rakitic would be interested in a move to Manchester United, the Birmingham Mail writes, citing the Express.
Apparently, the man from Croatia is believed to have an offer on the table from the Old Trafford club, after growing worried about his current situation at the Camp Nou.
The 30-year-old is concerned about his playing time going into the new season, despite the fact that he only signed a new contract just twelve months ago.
It comes as no surprise to me that United and Jose Mourinho are keen on bringing in a new central player. The Red Devils have tried a whole host of options as the third midfielder alongside both Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba, but no single player has been able to nail down their place.
Rakitic is an excellent footballer who’s immensely talented, particularly with the ball at his feet. He’d certainly create chances in this Manchester United side, but I’d be concerned about his mobility.
You’d also have to factor in the price. He’s a player right in the midst of his peak years, plus the fact that he’s signed a new deal would only up the cost. It’ll certainly be intriguing to see if the Manchester club could pull it off.
