Daley Blind admits it’d be hard to turn Louis van Gaal down

Manchester United are still looking very thin on the ground in terms of first-team defenders as the new season looms, and next on Louis van Gaal’s radar could be his Dutch compatriot Daley Blind. The versatile Ajax man has hinted that he could find it tough to turn Van Gaal down if United come knocking.

Blind’s versatility would be a great asset to Manchester United. He can play left-back, centre-back and central midfield, plus he knows Van Gaal’s 5-3-2 system well.

Thought to cost around £17million, Blind is a backup option if Manchester United cannot lure Mats Hummels through the Old Trafford doors this transfer window.

“Of course, it’s flattering when you’re linked with clubs like Manchester United and Barcelona,” Blind told Goal.

“It would be very hard to turn down these kind of clubs. But there’s no serious interest as of yet.

“There are plenty of players who promise to stay and then leave after all. I am keeping my options open. I am very happy in Amsterdam and at Ajax, but you never know what could happen.”

Blind flourished under Louis van Gaal’s guidance during the World Cup, as he grabbed himself a couple of superb assists, and managed to grab himself a goal too.
