Dan James dropped a top display vs Real Sociedad last night, leaving fans feeling pretty pleased with the Wales international.
This Manchester United team has offered up a real mixed bag. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are either brilliant or an absolute catastrophe. Sadly, there’s no in-between.
The good news? Last night, United turned up and more than deserved their 4-0 victory away to Real Sociedad. Make no mistake about it, the La Liga outfit is top-drawer. Solskjaer’s Reds make them look extremely ordinary.
Yes, Bruno Fernandes will once again claim all the headlines after his brace, but I’d like to heap praise on Daniel James.
The young Welshman has struggled for minutes this season, but whenever called upon, he’s definitely played well. Last night was no different. From first minute till last, his pace would cause all sorts of problems.
On the counter-attack he was deadly, and in the 90th minute, James would finally grab the goal his outing deserved. No doubt that’ll do his confidence the world of good.
Sure, James knows he’s not going to start week-in-week-out, but keep playing like that and minutes will no doubt come his way with more frequently. It was an outstanding display against an excellent team – and he deserves credit for that.
The pressure will now start to come from Amad Diallo, no doubt, but for now, James should be just ahead of the Ivorian in the pecking order. Hopefully, both will get the chance to start in the return leg next week.
As you’d imagine, the United fans would react in their droves as the 23-year-old greatly impressed. He definitely deserves all the praise heading his way.
