Dan James scored his first Champions League goal vs Istanbul Basaksehir last night and he’d send a message to the fans afterwards.
March. That’s when Daniel James would score his last goal for Manchester United. We’ve gone through two lockdowns, a short off-season and a few international breaks, but the Wales winger finally is on the score-sheet once again.
The speedy winger has been out of the team recently, after playing an awful lot of games last term. One thing that hasn’t wavered, though, is his heart and determination. The ex-Swansea man refused to give up and tonight he was rewarded in the best way possible.
Scoring in the Champions League shouldn’t be taken lightly. It’s a seriously good achievement, particularly for someone like James who is still relatively young aged just 23.
After a tough period at United, this is the perfect tonic for James to get back on the right track and prove his worth to this football club.
Anyway, as you’d expect, James would be buzzing following netting in Europe. He’d take to Twitter to send a heartfelt message to the fans and it was great to see just how much it meant to him.

No doubt James is feeling an awful lot better about his football. It’s funny what a goal can do, huh?
With games coming thick and fast, James will definitely be given a real opportunity to play regular football from now until the next international break in March. This time, though, he’ll be allowed to play without the pressure of having to deliver game-in-game-out.
The squad is in a far better place than it was twelve months ago, which means James can develop at his own pace and drift in and out of proceedings when the manager sees fit.
Congratulations on your first Champions League goal, Daniel!
