Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first order of Manchester United transfer business this summer was completing a move for Daniel James from Swansea City. The 21-year-old enjoyed a stellar breakthrough season in 2018/19, and the Red Devils were first to pounce and win his signature.
James is currently with his new United teammates in Perth, preparing for a gruelling pre-season schedule as the Old Trafford club play five games before the serious action begins.
After travelling to Dubai for some warm weather training on his own accord before he was due back in Manchester at the AON Training Complex, it always felt like the Wales international had the perfect attitude.
Well, it seems as though the work James is putting in is already paying off. According to The Sun in an exclusive, it is being claimed that United’s 21-year-old starlet is already impressing both players and staff in training.
Apparently, James finished top of both the long and short sprint drills, while also maxing out the bleep tests – proving just how fit and in shape this young man is.
An Old Trafford source told The Sun:
“The word from Carrington is very encouraging on young James.
“He is clearly ahead of the game. He has topped all the early fitness charts. Ole was impressed with seeing him doing his own work.
“He came out top in the sprints, even the short ones, by a good margin of five or so yards.
“He did one fifty metre sprint that left team-mates five metres behind him and also maxing out the bleep test.”
I know it’s at the very early stages of his United career, but what’s not to like? This is exactly the sort of attitude the fans have craved to see, and James is certainly trying to hit the ground running and lead by example.
The early signs are certainly encouraging from James and if he can continue with this excellent mindset, he’ll definitely have a bright future at Old Trafford.
I was already looking forward to it, but I’m now even more excited to see James in action. Hopefully, he’ll get his chance against Perth Glory this coming Saturday…
