Last night, Daniel James left the Manchester United fans feeling mightily impressed, after an outstanding performance vs Finland.
After starting like a house on fire upon making the move to Old Trafford, the expectations were high for Daniel James. A down-turn in form for a prolonged period had the Manchester United fans on his back, with the majority feeling like the Welshman simply isn’t good enough.
Well, after an excellent performance against Finland back in September, we were given a glimmer of hope. Who says lightning doesn’t strike twice, eh? James was at it again with another top outing against the same opponent last night.
The winger would score a world-class goal, while also tacking on assist. It was an all-round performance of real quality, maturity and creativity. It really does make you wonder why he isn’t producing the goods at Old Trafford.
Sometimes you see James and he looks like a rabbit in the headlines. On other occasions, the Welshman looks like an absolute world-beater. The problem for United? His best matches come for his country, as opposed to club.
Could that blame be placed on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s door for using him wrong? Or is it because James just feels more at home playing for Wales than he does United? Who knows.
Either way, James deserves credit for an excellent outing last night. Hopefully, this is a nice confidence-booster for a young man who definitely needs it. Maybe the winger just needs a run of games under his belt to show us all what he can do?
Personally, I’d consider starting him this weekend against West Bromwich Albion, particularly amid a mini injury crisis…
The Manchester United fans took to Twitter in their droves to react, as the 23-year-old put in a brilliant international display.
