Daniel James set for medical today, will be Man United’s first signing

The transfer window has been officially open for around three weeks now, and it finally looks as though Manchester United have made a breakthrough.

It was just a couple of days ago when the Evening Standard claimed that the Red Devils were ‘close’ to signing Daniel James.

Today, we’ve got another update and it comes from Telegraph journalist, John Percy. He took to Twitter to claim that James, 21, will undergo his Manchester United medical today and become Ole Gunnar Solskajer’s first signing.

The speedy winger is an excellent place to start for the Baby Faced Assassin, particularly as he’ll cost no more than £20million. While we all know how big of a problem right-wing has been over the last few years…

James isn’t a player I know an awful lot about other than the fact that he’s super-quick. The winger was close to a Leeds United move in January but that didn’t happen as Swansea pulled out of the proposed deal at the eleventh-hour.

Leeds’ loss is seemingly our gain, though, and who knows how much first-team football he’ll play this season.

It’s all about gauging how he gets on during pre-season tour before Solskjaer makes a firm decision on how often to utilise James, but it is nice to see United pushing ahead with a deal.
