It feels as though Mateo Darmian has been trying to leave Manchester United for the last few transfer windows – but to no avail thus far.
Well, that potential transfer rumour is picking up pace once again. The latest update in the saga comes from Gazzetta dello Sport’s Thursday’s print edition, translated wonderfully by Sport Witness.
They’re claiming that the 29-year-old has ‘once again’ asked to leave United this summer, as he wants to return to his homeland – especially since his family has recently welcomed a new addition.
Gazzetta state that Juve are close to letting Joao Cancelo leave, and with no player-exchange set to take place as part of the move, Darmian could be targeted…
The Old Lady have apparently been following Darmian for a ‘long time’, while Inter Milan have also been keen for a fair while.

Gazzetta state that, unless Inter make their move, Darmian could be Turin-bound.
At this point, I feel sorry for Darmian. After a solid start, things rapidly dropped off for the right-back and unfortunately he just never recovered from that.
It looked as though he was certain to leave last summer, although that never materialised for one reason or another. Now, it’d just be cruel to prolong his stay in Manchester should he want to head back home.
