David de Gea could keep Man United sweating on new contract until January: report

David de Gea is yet to sign a new contract at Manchester United. The Spaniard is now firmly into the final year of his deal – meaning he could walk away for free next summer.

What’s even more worrying is the fact that he’d be free to talk to overseas clubs about signing a pre-contract as early as January.

Today The Sun are reporting that the United star man is leaving the club sweating on signing his new deal – despite agreeing to a £350,000-a-week contract in principal…

Furthermore, De Gea could wait until January – presumably to see what sort of offers he can get if he does choose to move elsewhere.

This is worrying for the Old Trafford club. De Gea has been the one constant in that United dressing room over the last half-decade. To lose him, at this stage, would be a major blow.

The 28-year-old is in the prime of his career and it’d be a real shame to see him walk away despite the fact that United are the club who have developed and nurtured his immense talents.

Sure, Dean Henderson is waiting in the wings but he has some way to go to get on De Gea’s level. The potential is there, but there’s still so much growing to do…
