David de Gea edging closer to Man Utd exit

Manchester United are trying their utmost to cling onto the services of David de Gea for at least one more season, but its growing increasingly likely that the flying Spaniard will return to his hometown this summer, and make the move to Real Madrid.

Today solid reports are suggesting that Iker Casillas’ move to FC Porto is looking all-but complete, meaning Real Madrid will be on the hunt for a top class keeper this summer.

That keeper is looking like David de Gea, with reports in England suggesting United are looking at Jasper Cillissen as a replacement.

If Cillissen does end up being the replacement I’d be largely underwhelmed. The Ajax keeper is solid, yes, but he isn’t anywhere close to David de Gea’s level meaning our team is instantly weakened in one of the key areas.

Personally I’d like to see Hugo Lloris come in. His athleticism and energy is one of a few that can match up to De Gea, although he’d cost a fair bit.
