David de Gea ‘happy’ and ‘prepared to remain’ in Manchester

David de Gea’s contractual situation is still up in the air at Manchester United, and with no new deal looking close to being signed by the Spaniard, the Old Trafford crowd are seemingly becoming more and more worried about the prospect of losing their #1 goalkeeper.

According to the usually reliable Mark Ogden of the Telegraph, David de Gea is understood to be happy in Manchester, and is preparing himself for a stay in the city. Ogden goes on to add that the lure of Real Madrid and a return to his home city – the place where his girlfriend is currently living, will inevitably prove too much in the long-term.

If we could get another couple of seasons out of De Gea after this one then I’d be absolutely thrilled. We all knew that if he grew into the keeper we expected we’d lose him eventually, but hopefully we can get a decent fee for the 24-year old in the future.
