The saga of the summer is about to end. Manchester United and Real Madrid have been at loggerheads over the sale of David de Gea all summer, and the 25-year old is about to get his wish. Sky Sports News claim a deal is being negotiated as we speak.
With one year left on his contract the ball was always in David de Gea’s court, and once again the super agent Jorge Mendes looks to have secured his client the deal he wanted – and Real Madrid have stolen one of our stars once more.
At the end of the day its United’s fault. They should’ve got De Gea to commit to a new deal sooner and they didn’t, allowing the keeper to have his pick of the clubs and control the situation completely.
To me this is hugely disappointing. We’ve stood firm all summer and let it slip at the final hurdle. Yes, its all about getting the best fee possible for the Spaniard but I just hope we’ve left ourselves enough time to sign a suitable replacement. If I had the choice I’d throw silly money at Spurs for Hugo Lloris.
