The transfer window is finally picking up some pace, and today Guillem Balague told us that Nicolas Otamendi was subject of a bid by Manchester United. Since then, we’ve had more news on Revista De La Liga, as Graham Hunter has admitted United have their work cut out to keep hold of David de Gea.
Hunter believes that the Spaniard is ‘interested’ in a move to the Bernabeu, and the fact that De Gea still hasn’t put pen to paper on a new contract probably backs that up. When you couple that with the signing of Victor Valdes, it certainly looks like United could be preparing for the worst.
Ideally we’d keep hold of De Gea for another few years at least, because it would be a real shame as we’ve watched him grow from this skinny little Spanish kid into one of the best goalkeepers in the world from the guidance of our excellent goalkeeping coaches.
To me, if United are forced into letting De Gea leave for pastures new at Madrid, it’d be silly not to enquire about the availability of both Raphael Varane and Gareth Bale. Manchester United need to drive a hard bargain with this one, because a keeper of David’s ability doesn’t come around very often.
