David de Gea has sent a message of defiance to the Old Trafford Faithful.
Manchester United Football Club are playing some pretty poor football at the moment. To a man, from top to bottom, it hasn’t been good enough.
I guess we should have expected it, given the football was pretty dull even when we were winning matches at the start of the campaign.
It all came to the fore against Leicester City on Saturday. Quite frankly, the 4-2 scoreline flattered United and on another day it could have been even uglier for the Old Trafford club.
As you’d expect, the players are sticking together on social media, with David de Gea the latest United star to send a message to the fans. David de Gea, with a defiant tone, admitted that United are stronger together and it’s now ‘time to react’.
Honestly, we appreciate the messages from all the United squad but it feels a little samey at this juncture. Week-in-week-out we’re being apologised too by the players. I understand the gesture but we’d all much prefer the lads to get the job done on the field.
I don’t doubt that we’ll bounce back eventually, perhaps even against Atalanta in midweek, but maybe the writing is now on the wall for our Baby Faced Assassin.
Without having any sources inside that dressing room, it’s hard to work out whether the squad still believe in the Norwegian. I’d imagine that the confidence in him is dwindling, given just how talented that squad is.
De Gea is at the forefront of that and he’s now a real leader within the camp due to his wealth of experience. He speaks for every player to a man. Hopefully, these guys can do better going forward because we’ve got a truly tricky portion of our season just on the horizon.
