De Gea shares picture of leg in brace after suffering knee injury

David de Gea picked up a knee injury in Sunday’s game against Southampton. Now, he’s taken to social media to offer us an insight.

Manchester United would go 2-0 down courtesy of a lovely James Ward-Prowe free-kick. In the process, David de Gea would collide into the post, injuring his knee in the process.

It was confirmed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that De Gea would be set for a scan on the knee issue, which has probably already taken place – though the results of which are yet to be made public knowledge.

To me, it looked like an impact injury rather than a serious underlying issue. If that’s the case, all it’ll need is time to heal as opposed to the Spaniard having to undergo surgery or anything like that. With games now coming thick and fast, it’s now about how many matches De Gea could potentially miss…

Anyway, keen to keep the fans in the loop the United star shared a picture of his leg in a brace after suffering the knee injury, though you get the impression De Gea is feeling pretty upbeat about his road to recovery.

It looks like some form of brace with an ice-pack crammed in, to keep the swelling down while also easing the pain somewhat. For De Gea, it’s now about not overdoing it and getting back healthy as soon as possible.

The good news for United is that Henderson is a more-than-capable back-up. The Englishman proved his worth in the second 45 minutes against Southampton and although it’s only a small sample size, he’s been excellent for well over a year now, dating back to his time at Sheffield United.

Sure, PSG are an excellent team but Henderson will only improve by playing against the best forward’s in the business. I’d feel more than comfortable with him starting on Wednesday night if needs be, and what a proud moment it will be for the whole family if it happens.

Get well soon, David!
