Ahead of facing Hull City on Boxing Day, David Moyes met the media and gave us an update on various things, including the progression of Robin van Persie and Michael Carrick’s injuries. The gaffer said that both are progressing nicely, and maybe one, or both could be set for a sensational return against Hull.
When we found out that we’d be without Carrick for almost two months, we were worried. Michael Carrick has been our most consistent midfielder in recent years and to be without him left the squad looking extremely thin in that area. Phil Jones and Tom Cleverley have both stepped up though, and done excellently in his absence.
David Moyes said:
“There are always miracles at Christmas,”
“Let’s hope there could be one for Robin van Persie and Michael Carrick. You never know.”
Robin was initially expected to be out for around a month, and Carrick was ruled out for six weeks quite a while ago now, so if anyone could make a miraculous comeback I’d put my money on it being Carrick.
