David Moyes plans Nick Powell’s next move

After making a handful of Manchester United appearances last season, including a start in the Champions League, Nick Powell found himself on loan at Wigan at the start of David Moyes’ new era. A loan move that the 19-year has furthered his development and will certainly help him when he comes back to Manchester.

The youngster is set to be recalled by United in January, as Moyes admitted that he has seriously thought about using Powell in the second half of the season, along with fellow United starlet Jesse Lingard who has also been on loan in the Championship.

In his 22 games at the Latics, Powell has found the net an impressive eight times, including three in the Europa League. The youngster capped off an excellent few months with a superb overhead kick goal a couple of weeks ago.

David Moyes now thinks he’s ready for the next step; Premier League football. Although Powell scored a stunning goal on his Manchester United debut against Wigan Athletic, he hasn’t managed to nail down a regular starting spot due to a long-term injury.

Two Premier League clubs including Steve Bruce’s Hull City, and Michael Laudrup’s Swansea City are interested in taking Powell on loan for the second half of the season. With six months regular Premier League playing time under his belt, Powell could well find himself in the mix for a United starting berth come the start of next season.
