De Gea: We want to finish it

After an impressive 2013, 23-year old shot-stopper David de Gea has called for his United teammates to finish the job and end City’s faint hopes of a shot at the title in the upcoming Manchester derby. After a somewhat shaky start to his United career, the Spaniard has improved his game significantly and is constantly growing into the United #1 shirt.

In the latest issue of United magazine Inside United, De Gea says that he is just taking each game as it comes. He also added that he’s feeling good in Manchester.

“I’d love to win the league this season but so does everyone else in the team.” He said. “We’re all focused on getting three points from every game – that is what will take us to our objective. We appreciate where we are in the league and we want to finish it.”

Having firmly cemented his starting spot in the side, De Gea added that he’s happy with how his game is going at the moment: “I’m feeling well, in good shape and I’m at ease on the pitch,” he said. “I’ve played a lot of matches but I get plenty of rest at home and I eat well – it’s important to look after myself.” He continued. “I’m more confident and feel I’m playing consistently because I’ve had a prolonged run in the team. But training well and having a good mental attitude brings its rewards.

“Everything you put in, you get out. That is what you’re seeing now – I’m very happy with how I’m playing.”
