Dean Henderson is still intent on leaving Old Trafford on loan this month.
Manchester United are in a mess at the moment. A struggling side, an unhappy dressing room, while Ralf Rangnick tries to turn the tide in very limited time.
It goes without saying, the situation is far from ideal. Last night, the Red Devils would take on Aston Villa in the FA Cup under the Old Trafford floodlights. However, a much-changed squad due to team selection and injuries would be met with Dean Henderson’s absence…
For a goalkeeper with bags of potential and skill, this felt like the opportune moment to give Henderson some minutes.
Well, the 24-year-old United star was omitted from the matchday squad completely, as he is still pushing for a January move away on loan. That’s according to the Manchester Evening News.
Henderson has started just twice this season, following a tough summer due to injury and a pretty serious bout of Covid-19.
It’s thought that Henderson has already been told, by Rangnick, that he cannot leave in January as the German wants at least three first-team ready goalies on the books at all times.
However, the Englishman is still pushing for a move away.
Henderson is under contract until 2025, meaning United aren’t in any rush to make a decision on his future. Though it’s never ideal having an unhappy player on the books. Given David de Gea’s brilliance this year, surely a loan move away makes sense for Hendo?
I think it’s telling that Tottenham Hotspur, a top Premier League club, are monitoring Henderson’s situation. If the Old Trafford club are looking to sell him permanently, there’s no doubt they could demand a pretty penny from a rival like that.
