Dean Henderson agrees personal terms with Forest ahead of loan move

Dean Henderson is set to join Nottingham Forest on loan as early as this week.

Man United are yet to make any signings this summer, which has all us Manchester United fans worried.

Right now, it seems as though the club are still looking to wipe the slate clean and get rid of some high-earners who don’t really play that much. Dean Henderson definitely falls into that bracket, though I’d argue he has the potential to become our first-choice goalkeeper in the not-too-distant future.

Recently, there have been pretty solid reports linking Henderson with a move to Nottingham Forest. That deal is expected to be a loan with the newly-promoted club having an option to buy for around £20million.

Now, the usually reliable Fabrizio Romano has given us all an update on that transfer.

Apparently, Henderson has agreed personal terms with Forest, as the deal is likely to be done this week. The 25-year-old is now looking set to leave the club on loan – and there’s no guarantee the Englishman comes back to Old Trafford if that £20m buyout clause does actually exist.

Honestly, I don’t like this deal. I’d have loved to see Ten Hag take a closer look at both David de Gea and Henderson during pre-season, letting them fight it out for the number one jersey first.

In our opinion, Henderson fits in line with Ten Hag’s style of play far better than De Gea does. I genuinely believe it’d be a mistake to let the 25-year-old go before even seeing what the Englishman can do.

All you’re doing is giving yourself a long-term problem. De Gea’s probably only got a one or two years left in him at the top level, meaning United will probably have to spend big to replace the Spaniard. Why not do exactly that with Henderson who is more than capable of starting for any side in the Premier League?
