Over the last 24 hours, Dean Henderson has been pictured in Manchester United training ahead of the 2020/21 term.
It hasn’t been a bad week for the Englishman, after earning a first England call-up, before signing a new Reds deal.
Now, his dream of playing for Manchester United on a regular basis is edging closer. After spending the last three terms out on loan. One with Shrewsbury Town, then two with Sheffield United, Henderson is back where he belongs.
The 23-year-old has never shied away from his desire to sport that famous United goalkeeper strip. He’s hard to earn his place in the squad the hard way, but my, Henderson has been impressive over the last twelve months.
Now, photos emerged on Twitter (@ManUnitedZone_) of Henderson in United training, donning Reds colours in their all-new 2020/21 clobber, ahead of the season starting in just a few weeks.
Hendo looks good in United gear, hey?
We’ve been campaigning for Henderson to get his chance for the last few months. Now, his (and our dream) is becoming a reality.
Sure, beating out David de Gea isn’t going to be easy. However, you’ve got to be in it to win it. Henderson’s a confident young man who believes in his own ability, and he’s ready to go toe-to-toe with the Spaniard. You have to admire that.
I’d suspect this season, we’ll see Henderson utilised in the cups, and if De Gea picks up an injury or continues to make mistakes, the starting jersey may well be his to lose as the 2020/21 season progresses.
For now, Henderson has to continue working hard, impress the coaches on the training ground and his chance will come. After all, he’s tied to United for the next six years now, on hefty wages, at a club who believes in his ability. His opportunities will come, make no mistake about that.
