Dean Henderson makes training return following injury

Dean Henderson has been spotted out on the training field following injury.

Manchester United’s goalkeeping department may well be the strongest area of the squad. David de Gea and Dean Henderson will both be vying for the number one jersey next season, I’ve no doubt about that.

Henderson’s summer was a turbulent one. The shot-stopper would suffer a hip injury while away with England and sadly, he’d have to pull out of the EURO 2020 squad. It was expected that he’d play a full part in pre-season, though.

Well, now we know that’s exactly the case. The 24-year-old star offered United an injury boost, by taking part in pre-season training yesterday – ahead of the Red’s first friendly of the summer against Derby County this coming weekend.

The good news is that the hip injury is now fixed following surgery. For Henderson, it’s now about getting a full pre-season under his belt ahead of United’s season opener against Leeds united next month.

There’s an opportunity for Henderson, due to De Gea’s participation in the European Championships. The Englishman will now have at least a week or two to impress Solskjaer and the coaching staff without the Spaniard being present to answer back.

I’ve banged this drum several times. Henderson should be United’s number one goalkeeper in our opinion. He deserves that chance going into the new campaign and it’s down to the young man to take that opportunity with both hands and not look back.

It is great to see Hendo back out there, though. Hopefully, he’s already learning plenty from Tom Heaton, who made his United return a couple of weeks ago.

Welcome back, Hendo!!
