Dean Henderson will remain at Man United in January.
Manchester United have had their struggles over the last decade or so. That much is obvious.
It seems like one area of the field where the Red Devils have always done well is goalkeeper. David de Gea is back amongst the best in the business, while Dean Henderson has a genuine chance at being a first-choice goalie here for many years.
However, right now, the Englishman isn’t happy with his situation…
According to the Manchester Evening News, the 24-year-old United star has been told he cannot leave on loan in January, despite a serious lack of playing time.
Understandably, Henderson is ‘desperate’ to get regular playing time after missing the beginning of the campaign with Covid-19.
However, club sources have told the MEN that Rangnick wants three first-team ready goalies on the books at all times. It’s also claimed the manager and Henderson could end up ‘at loggerheads’ over the decision made by the German.
It’s thought Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Henderson’s situation, who has three-and-a-half years left on his current terms at United – meaning the club are in no rush to sell Hendo if they want to keep him around.
Henderson, who thought he was mis-managed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, is thought to be prepared to leave the club permanently. Despite the fact United have no intention of doing that at this moment in time.
I’m a massive Hendo fan and I genuinely do believe he’s ready to be a first-choice number one at a top club. After last term, I expected that he’d be United’s number one this time around. However, that obviously hasn’t happened and now the keeper’s frustrations are understandably growing.
With De Gea showing no signs of giving up that starting job any time soon, perhaps it’s best that United cash in on their asset while his value remains high.
