West Ham stalwart Declan Rice would be keen on a move to Man United this summer.
All the transfer talk surrounding Manchester United has been based around moves for a right-winger and a centre-half. Here at Old Trafford Faithful, we’re convinced we have one bigger need; defensive midfield.
Don’t get me wrong, I like Scott McTominay, but he needs help. Nemanja Matic is ageing, and those two are pretty much the list of players who enjoy doing the dirty work in United’s engine room.
West Ham United’s Declan Rice could be an ideal signing for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with the Reds’ hopes of adding the Englishman boosted. Well, that’s if the Manchester Evening News are to be believed anyway…
In an article based around United’s transfer targets, it’s the information they have on Rice that leaves us the most intrigued. Apparently, the talented 22-year-old is indeed ‘interested’ in joining United. Sadly, there is an ‘expectation’ he’ll spend at least one more year with West Ham.
At this point, Rice’s current club value the midfielder at ‘close to £100million’, which is obviously an awful lot of money. That said, if you’re going to get the best part of a decade out of the player, then it could turn out to be great value over the duration of his career.
After watching England this weekend, I’d be taking a closer look at Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips. He was absolutely phenomenal at Wembley on Sunday and although it’ll be hard to prise him away from a local rival, we’ve done it before – just ask Eric Cantona.
That said, Rice would improve our starting line-up pretty significantly if he was signed by United.
