Manchester United’s defensive ‘crisis’ has been well documented throughout the transfer window, with Louis van Gaal opting to let a few defensive options go whilst not bringing many replacements in – instead opting to convert Daley Blind into a centre-half.
That situation could’ve got a whole lot worse, as according to Sport Witness, Marcos Rojo was a target for Valencia, AS Monaco and Marseille, and the Argentinan rejected all those offers to stay put at Old Trafford and fight for his Manchester United place.
Marcos Rojo clearly isn’t that heavily favoured by Louis van Gaal. He seemed reluctant to use him at times last season and the 25-year old is yet to feature once this term despite being fit. Yes, he participated in the Copa America but so did the likes of Sergio Aguero and Alexis Sanchez – both of whom have been returned to the starting line-ups since.
He has a great attitude and commitment towards Manchester United, and his passion on the pitch was great to see when times got tough last season. Hopefully we’ll see him force his way back into the Iron Tulip’s plans soon, similarly to how Ander Herrera convinced Louis van Gaal he is vital to the team.
