Manchester United yesterday confirmed that a deal for Memphis Depay has been agreed subject to a medical, for a fee around the £25million mark. Many clubs were in for Depay’s signature, but he chose Manchester United.
There were rumours that Depay rejected more money from PSG to join the club, and also today, PSV’s director Marcel Brands has confirmed that Depay rejected Liverpool to join the Old Trafford club.
Marcel Brands [PSV Director] said: “Liverpool contacted us and talked with the player. They were also one of the clubs interested but at the end Memphis had the final decision and he chose Manchester United.”
If the news signing Memphis Depay wasn’t enough, knowing that we beat Liverpool to sign the 21-year old makes it even sweeter.
Depay is one of the hottest talents in world football, and if he develops to his full potential then we could well have one of the best wingers in the world on our books in a few years time.
