Di Marzio claims Man Utd are winning race to sign forward

Manchester United need some reinforcements during the transfer window this summer, with Jose Mourinho keen to mould the squad in his image and philosophy. Although Eric Bailly has been added, the recruitment won’t stop there with several more faces needed to freshen things up.

According to the usually reliable Gianluca Di Marzio, Manchester United are leading the race to seal a deal for one of the best attackers on the planet in Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The Armenian international has just twelve months remaining on his current deal at Borussia Dortmund, and he will not be penning a new contract out in Germany.

This means that Mkhitaryan could well move on this summer, and to know that Manchester United are leading the race is definitely refreshing. At this point in time, Dortmund are still playing hardball, but United wouldn’t keep trying to persuade the 28-year-old to move unless they thought a deal was possible.
