Well, it seems as though Manchester United have completed their first signing of the summer, as AFC Ajax youngster Dillon Hoogewerf has confirmed his move to Old Trafford.
The 16-year-old took to his Instagram page to upload a video of himself (see below) in Red Devils colours for the first time, with the promising youngster now seemingly a United player.
Predominantly a striker, Hoogewerf has enjoyed an excellent season for Ajax’s U17 side, scoring ten goals while sacking on six assists for his teammates.
It seemed as though Hoogewerf was dead-set on leaving the Holland club this summer, with United always looking like the front-runners, now they’ve officially got their man and I bet the youngster cannot wait to get started.
Born in 2003 (yes, that makes me feel extremely old too), Hoogewerf’s signature signals United trying to return to what they do best – signing young players and nurturing their abilities.
Although it may be a while before we see Hoogewerf in amongst it for the first-team, it’s nice to see that the Reds still have the ability to poach the best up-and-comers in the game.
No doubt Hoogewerf will be trying to follow in his compatriot Tahith Chong’s footsteps and begin to knock on the door of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-team squad.
Welcome, Dillon!
