Diogo Dalot suffers injury setback, hasn’t been training all week: report

Water is wet. Diogo Dalot is injured again. Yes, the Portuguese youth international has a serious case of the Phil Jones injury bug at the moment and it doesn’t look like letting up anytime soon.

Well, it would explain as to why Dalot didn’t feature in the squad against LASK Linz last night, though you do get the impression the writing ts firmly on the wall for the former FC Porto defender.

The latest story in regards to Dalot’s treatment table woes comes from the Manchester Evening News, who confirm that United have suffered another injury blow – following Luke Shaw and Axel Tuanzebe being ruled out for the season’s remainder.

Anyway, the 21-year-old hasn’t trained this week as he’s been hit with another setback, as his disastrous season at Old Trafford continues.

Apparently, Dalot reported for training on Tuesday, before arriving at the AON Training Complex early Wednesday morning for treatment alongside Shaw.

Will Dalot play again this season?

Well, he’s still been named in the Europa League squad list, though right now it’s unclear as to whether that list was published before or after this Dalot injury news.

We have to be realistic here, though, the likelihood of Dalot playing when everyone is fit seems pretty slim. He’s behind Brandon Williams, Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and possibly even Timothy Fosu-Mensah in the pecking order. After all, the latter was preferred at left-back ahead of Dalot against Crystal Palace – despite not playing for the Reds in three years.

Here’s to hoping that the injury is only a minor problem. However, I think that Dalot’s time at Old Trafford is drawing to a close. Another brilliant Jose Mourinho signing, hey?
